You are the one to take Quantarctica further
– it’s a community effort!
Suggest existing datasets for future versions of Quantarctica, with a brief justification for each.
Make your data Quantarctica friendly
Quantarctica promotes datasets that are easy to discover, understand, and reuse across the Antarctic community. We encourage data providers to follow the same principles by sharing well-documented, GIS-ready datasets with broad community value. Please follow the Quantarctica-friendly Dataset Guidelines when preparing your data.
Once your dataset is archived, send us a short data summary and a representative thumbnail image, similar to those used in the Quantarctica data catalog, and we will help showcase your dataset as a Quantarctica add-on dataset.
Showcase
So far, we’ve used Quantarctica to:
- Examine geographical data at a range of scales (continental to local)
- Prepare maps for publications and proposals
- View project data together with continental datasets
- Plot GPS-provided current positions with satellite images and other scientific data during field campaigns (real-time GPS positioning)
It could also be a useful tool for teaching about Antarctica in classrooms.
